Bandai 1/144 HGBF Hi Mock

July 9th, 2017

So I knew I was going to hand-paint a kit for a tutorial. But I didn’t want to hand paint one of my “good” models, so I bought this thing just to mess around with so that I had something to use. There’s a couple things I’m not gonna lie about. First, I did some of the mods at build gatherings while I may not have been completely sober (namely, adding the VF-1S head guns out of spite). Second, I haven’t completely hand-painted a model in over a decade and I got very frustrated with the process, allowing some crappy mistakes to go unfixed for the sake of being done with it. You can hand-paint a model and make it look it look pretty nice, as my tutorial suggests, but you have to have a lot of patience. So this one’s here for the record, but I’m not putting it in any contests. Or in my display case. It stays in a box in the closet. It’s my own personal gimp.

There’s no Work-In-Progress report for this one, but since it was the subject of two tutorials, you can see how it was built in my hand-painting and weathering tutorials.
